INFORMATION ABOUT PROCEDURES FOR OPENING A NEW ACCOUNT
To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person when opening a new account. What this means for you:
When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license, social security card, or other identifying documents.

Membership Application Instructions

When you submit your application, you will need to include a check or money order for your initial deposit of $10.25 or more to open your Share Savings Account (includes a $0.25 processing fee to open the account). Make the check or money order payable to the Post Office Credit Union of Maryland. Cash is accepted if you sign up in person.

Provide a copy of your Postal ID, and driver’s license or a valid picture identification that verifies your name, address, and other identifying information. If your ID doesn’t have the correct address, please submit a change of address card or proof of your current address. We will accept as proof, a phone or BG&E bill or any current US Postal mailing.

If you decide to add a joint owner to your account, please have them complete the application as well and send in a copy of their driver’s license, valid ID, and Social Security card. Non-USPS MD employees, that qualify for membership will need to provide a driver’s license and Social Security card with the application.
